We all want to step up to the tee box and absolutely pure a drive dead center. But golf is a hard game, and the reality is that we do not find the middle of the club face every single time.
If you are tired of your off center strikes putting you deep in the woods, the Takomo IGNIS D2 driver was built specifically for you.
"The reality is the IGNIS D2 driver isn't going to fix your swing. It's not going to all of a sudden make you a perfect driver of the golf ball. It's just going to help out when your swing isn't where it needs to be, when it isn't quite perfect, when you're not finding the middle of the club face."
— Takomo Tim
It is a driver built for the real world. It is for the player who wants to stand over the ball on a tight par 4 and make a confident swing, knowing that the gear in their hands is designed to bail them out of a bad strike.
To prove it, Tim took the IGNIS D2 into the Trackman bay to see exactly what this club does when you do not bring your perfect swing.
Trackman Testing: The Power of the Miss
To find out just how forgiving this driver really is, Tim put it to the ultimate test. Instead of showcasing his absolute best swings, he intentionally hit shots with typical misses.
Testing the 10.5 Degree Head (100 to 108 mph Swing Speed)
Swinging at a very relatable 100 to 108 mph, Tim found that the driver refused to punish his bad strikes. Even on a shot hit noticeably low on the face, the Trackman numbers were amazing. The smash factor held strong at 1.48, retaining just under 150 mph of ball speed and carrying a very respectable 247 yards.
Testing the 9 Degree Head (120 plus mph Swing Speed)
When Tim switched to the 9 degree head and ramped up the speed, he started hitting consecutive drives completely out of the toe. Normally, a toe strike is a guaranteed hook into the left trees. Instead, the IGNIS D2 kept the ball speed up and grouped every single bad strike into a remarkably tight circle right down the fairway.
"Oh, it's handling my inconsistency with strike so well. It's just a copy paste. That grouping's insane."
— Takomo Tim
Seeing ball after ball land in the same spot despite the terrible strikes proved exactly what this club was designed to do.
"I mean, I'm hitting these so badly. Which is honestly kind of perfect for this because you're not going to hit the driver great all the time... to see that this is what this driver does when I just keep missing the middle of the face and it's just putting all of these golf balls inside this little circle out there."

What Makes the IGNIS D2 Different?
So how does it actually do that? The Ignis D2 is a forgiving 460cc carbon fiber and titanium driver, and as Tim explains in the video, "it is designed to make off center strikes more stable, consistent, and playable."
While it shares the premium titanium body and carbon fiber crown of our original D1 driver, the real magic happens on the sole of the club. We completely reengineered the weighting system to maximize forgiveness.
- MOI Increase: We removed the front weights found on the previous model and pushed all that mass to the toe, the heel, and the extreme rear of the club head. "What that does is it increases the moment of inertia by more than 10 percent, meaning this driver is more forgiving on offcenter hits," Tim explained.
- Redesigned Variable Thickness Face: The face has been totally reworked to protect your ball speed on strikes out of the toe or low on the face.
- Customizable Launch: Every driver comes with a 3 gram weight installed in the back, but we also include an 8 gram weight in the box. Swap in the heavy weight to push the center of gravity even further back and lower, helping you launch the ball effortlessly.
- Dial In Your Loft: Available in 10.5 degree or 9 degree heads, the adjustable loft sleeve gives you eight different settings to perfectly tune your ball flight.

Step Up to the Tee with Confidence
You are not going to hit the center of the face every time you play golf. But with the right technology in your hands, you do not have to.
"It tells me this driver I can take out on the course and make a confident swing knowing that even if I don't hit it perfect, I think this D2's got my back."

Frequently Asked Questions
What loft options are available for the Ignis D2 driver?
The IGNIS D2 comes in either a 9 degree or a 10.5 degree head. From there, the adjustable loft sleeve gives you eight different settings so you can dial in your exact preferred ball flight.
How does the rear weighting system work?
Each driver comes with a 3 gram weight installed in the back, but we also include an 8 gram weight in the box. When you swap in the heavier 8 gram weight, you move the center of gravity even further back and lower in the club head. This makes it incredibly easy to launch the ball high and straight.
What shafts come standard?
We believe in providing premium components right out of the box. You can choose between a Ventus Blue or a Ventus Red shaft to perfectly match your swing speed and dynamics.
