Product description

The precision and control of a players’ iron. Balanced with a dash of forgiveness.

Experience a smaller, tour-inspired profile with cleaner turf interaction and sharper looks. The 201T MKII is a first-of-its-kind players' precision iron, fusing the forgiveness of a hollow-body design with the form factor of a players’ iron. Ideal for consistent ballstrikers who want to shotshape but appreciate a bit of tech built into the club.

The long irons include VFT technology for extra energy transfer and forgiveness on off-center strikes, while the integrated tungsten weight bar delivers increased ease to launch. The thin, flat face and steel weighting in short irons delivers the control you need when closing up the green.

  • Type: Modern players’ iron.
  • Characteristics: Hollow-body with a balance of forgiveness and workability. Minimal offset, tungsten-weighted long irons, a cross between a traditional players’ irons and players’ distance irons.
  • Design: Pure blade-like look. A trimmed topline, a thin, subtly tapered sole, and compact blade length compared to the 201 MKII.
  • For who: Consistent ballstrikers who want to shotshape but need a bit of forgiveness built into a compact, precise package.

Just received my 201T MK2 irons

Just received my 201T MK2 irons. Super stoked about gaming these beauties after transitioning from the TaylorMade irons I've been hitting for the past 15 years. There was a small delay in the shipping, but well worth the wait once I unboxed my new toys. Keeping head covers on these babies to keep them as clean as possible. Thanks, Takomo!

Couldn't be happier

Couldn't be happier. Ordered 201T's x lites last week and theyre already here. Beautiful clubs. Customer support was fantastic as I originally ordered the 201s and changed my mind. Refunded within a few days and had my new order in the mail shortly after. Golf clap to the takomo team - can't wait to game these.

Great feel with a hint of forgiveness

Ordered my customised 201T during March. took 4 weeks to be assembled and around 3/4 days to be delivered. The irons feel great but due to the weaker lofts and the shorter shaft option I picked up, I did lose some yardage which is not a bad thing considering how consistent and workable these clubs are. One of the best looking clubs for sure!

74 within 10 rounds of having 201Ts

Just shot a 74 within 10 rounds of getting the 201Ts, my previous best being an 80! The workability you can get is great and the short irons feel incredible on approach shots to attack pins - especially distance control wise. Definitely recommend if you want to progress into the single digits, they are still forgiving enough for confidence but definitely require you to develop your swing to be more consistent with strikes.

A Work of Art

From start to finish I had great experience. My order was delivered on time. The build quality and the materials quality is top grade. This is the type of iron set I have been trying to find. This iron checks all the things I have been looking for in an iron, great feel, minimal offset, perfect trajectory, and the weighting system to help control flight especially in the scoring irons. The classic design is beautiful. A job well done Team Takomo.

Wow, thanks for the amazing feedback!

Forgiving....but maybe too forgiving?

Got my 201T irons today.
53 year old Male. 15 handicap. I was in between the 201T and CB irons as I want to try and take the next step. But based on their data and recommendations, I went with the 201Ts as they said this is for a 4-14 handicaper looking to get better.
They were back ordered when I ordered them, but that is ok, its winter here in WI. I unboxed them right away, and they look great! The hat and towel are a nice touch.
I immediately scheduled some sim time at my club this afternoon. Took the new clubs along with my current Calloway Mavrick irons. I went through the progression from PW to 5 iron. 8 balls with the old clubs, and 8 with the new. Here are some of my observations:

Distance: the description says that for more forgiveness they might lose some distance....but that was for the 101s. That is why I went with the 201Ts because they were supposed to be closer in distance. Consistently with the 201Ts, I am about 10-15 yards shorter than my Mavricks. This was a little frustrating. I would have been ok with 5 or so, but 15? That is a significant loss in distance.

Dispersion: OK, this is where the yardage loss might be overcome. I will say that my average dispersion with the Mavricks was 14 yards from center, so I clearly don't always hit them very straight. With the 201Ts, i was only 6 yards from center, and the balls were in a much more consistent cluster. So from a consistency standpoint they are a winner.

Launch/height: The loft of these clubs definitely gets the ball in the air....perhaps a little too much. I never really had an issue with getting the ball in the air, but these clubs are averaging about 15-20 feet higher, which I can only assume is where I am losing some of that distance.

One notable downer.....the loft on the PW is way too much. I think I hit the roof of the sim like 6 times. The loft was more of a sand wedge than a PW. That club might have to stay home and I will keep my old PW.

Shaft - I got the standard KBS, and I don't really feel/see any difference in the shafts. Steel shafts, no real whip to them, so I have no issue there.

Club head weight - This is where I think things get interesting. The club heads feel really light. I have become used to heavy head weight from my Pings to my Callaway.....so it fees strange not to have that weight at the end of the shaft. Again, with the better ball flight, I am not complaining, but I think it is something I am going to have to get used to.

The numbers after going through the club progression seem to be a little bit all over the place. The swing speed was the same between the two sets. The ball speed was much slower with the 201Ts. The spin was lower with the 201Ts.

Overall - They feel good in your hand. They have a nice look when you are standing over the ball (except the PW), The ball pops off nicely, and it flies straighter, but it just doesn't go as far.

If I were to do it over again, I think I would order the 301CBs instead. Where I have concerns is that I think these clubs will do just fine for me to play the way I am currently playing.....but I don't feel like these are going to be "Game improvement" irons that are going to get me to the 5-10 handicap spot.

I think these would be great clubs for that person that is buying their second set of clubs and is somewhere in the 20s looking to get to 15. Not 15 to low handicap.

I am going to have to hit the sim/range a few more times to see if this wasn't just a bad session

Top-notch control and feel

This set of irons stands out with an amazing control and balance, making every play feel effortless. They are one of the most attractive ones I have come across in the market. After my brother tried them out, he was so impressed, he immediately ordered a set for himself. They come highly recommended.

Satisfied with my purchase

The 2 iron I bought last year became an instant favorite due to its smooth, pure feel. It led me to buy the full set which also lived up to my expectations. Really enjoying my rounds with them.

Effortless control and impressive arrival time

The 201T MKll I ordered reached me within a week, which was remarkable. The control I now have over my shot shaping has dramatically improved, and a centre hit feels incredibly smooth. My distance control is precise, and when combined with my KBS 130 X-Stiff shaft, the ball reaches the exact flight I've been aiming for. The clubs are a sight to behold and fit for a showcase. This product has undoubtedly given me my best golfing experience.

Look and feel like a dream

I was using game improvement irons before but was not getting the height I needed to stick greens. A friend who is scratch recommended I switch to a better club. He recommended the takomo 201s since my handicap dropped and the 201t mkii seems to be the equivalent so I have them a try. I'm getting much more height on my ball flight and a tighter dispersion. The strike feels great and in bad strikes I can tell where I hit it incorrectly. These irons look great, they feel great, and I love everything about them. You may think its media hype since influences recommended them but I am so glad I didnt pay double the price for big name brands. Grab them and dont look back.

Great Level Up!

I upgraded from my TaylorMade Sims 2 Max. I was scared taking the plunge from game improvement to the 201T MK2, but first swing with my 7i on the sim—even on a toe hit, it was straight 176 YD. My usual practice routine was amazing. I am looking forward to taking them on the course when it warms up. As far as performance, they are a great upgrade. It feels good on contact, and you have workability (if I can learn to shot shape lol). Overall, just a great upgrade.

Good, but different.

They're good clubs. Feel hot off the face. Stronger lofts, and better aesthetic for sure. Compared to my my OG 201's, they don't feel as soft, and I don't think they're as forgiving. Unsure if I'll keep playing them or revert back to my OG 201's.

The 5 iron also came with this weird milky markings on it. They wiped off but we'll see if it's corrosion or what the case is.

Thank you for your feedback. I sent the information forward so the product team can look into it. Rest assured, the club heads should not suffer from corrosion, and such cases would be under warranty. Don't hesitate to contact our support (hello@takomogolf.com) in case there's an issue.

Just Amazing

These are now our third set of Takomo irons and they just get better everytime. The feel, forgiveness and distance are equal, if not better, than the big name brands. But without the insane price. My two sons and I will be swinging Takomos for years to come.

Great irons

I upgraded my very old iron set to the Takomo 201T MKII's. Never hit more consistent shots in my life. Ball flight is higher, yardages are longer, and they are very forgiving! I'm a convert!

So far im loving the irons. Took me a couple rounds to get used to them since ive only played with super forgiving irons before them. Quality seems amazing and cant beat the price. Was an intimidating jump from my irons before but glad i took a chance on these. I ordered and got them in like 4-5 days. Also appearance wise, love the design. Very good looking clubs
